Liverpool Etz Chaim MATT Cheder
Liverpool Etz Chaim MATT Cheder
Although MATT is a long-established independent organisation providing cheder on behalf of the orthodox shuls, it is open to all Jewish children. The Lubavitch Foundation of Liverpool, under the direction of Rabbi Avremi and Golda Kievman, have reinvigorated and modernised the cheder in recent years so that today's children have a fun experience, learning all aspects of Judaism in innovative ways.
The Cheder, which is an independent registered charity, has the full support of the Jewish Studies Department at King David Primary School , who have stated that Cheder, together with KDPS, are laying the foundations of Jewish knowledge within every child, which can only strengthen their Jewish identities and understanding.
Children aged 3 years to bar-/bat-mitzvah and beyond are welcome at the Cheder. Yeshiva/Midrasha level learning can be provided as necessary in order to continue building on the strong foundations established with the help of the Cheder.
Cheder is supported financially by the three orthodox shuls, by the Liverpool Hebrew Associated Charities Fund, and by UJIA Liverpool.
Although a fee is charged, the Cheder is committed that no child is turned away where finance is an issue; confidentiality is assured.
