The Liverpool Jewish Bookshop was formally opened in April 1977 under the auspices of the Jewish Adult Education Committee – an offshoot of the Merseyside Representative Council and The Zionist Central Council – as a service to the Liverpool Jewish Community.
The Bookshop operates from a multifunctional room in Harold House (Jewish Community Centre) and has always been managed and staffed by a team of volunteers. Profits that are made are returned to the community and used to support a range of Jewish educational needs including the provision of books and other resources to the King David Schools, Liverpool Etz Chaim MATT Cheder and other appropriate organisations.
In addition to supplying a range of Siddurim, Machzorim, Chumashim, Haggadot plus books of general Jewish interest the bookshop also sells Talleisim, Mezzuzot and Tefillin as well as a wide range of Jewish requisites, gifts, and greetings cards. What is not currently in stock can be ordered on request.
The Bookshop is normally open for business every Sunday between the hours of 11am and 1pm. Purchases outside those hours can be arranged as necessary.
