Registering onto the Forum Click onto the Forum page Choose Register Click on the appropriate option for the terms and conditions. Enter a username (this can be your name or an alias) Enter your email address Enter a password of your choice Repeat the password entry Confirmation Code: type in the confirmation code (note that this is case sensitive) Profile Information (All information entered into these fields will be publicly viewable therefore it is advised to be cautious if completing these fields.) ICQ number: This is not necessary to use on this website. AIM address: This is not necessary to use on this website. MSN messenger: This is not necessary to use on this website. Yahoo messenger: This is not necessary to use on this website. Website: Complete if you want your own website accessible to others using the forum. Location: You may want to complete this field though it is not necessary Occupation: This is personal preference as to whether you complete this field Interests Signature: this can be used when you send a post or private message within the forum. Preferences Always show my email address: this is if someone wants to view your profile, they will be able to see the direct email address of the user. Hide your online status: If this is activated, other users of the Forum, will be able to see that you are online. Always notify me of replies: You will receive an email when someone replies to a topic you have posted. Notify on new Private message: You will receive an email indicating that you have received a private message Pop up window on new private message: A window will be displayed to indicate that you have received a private message from another registered users. These messages are accessible from “Login to see my private messages” link from the Forum front page Always attach my signature: If you have entered a signature within the Profile section above, this signature will be displayed. Always allow BBCode: Always leave this as Yes so that it does not alter the text that is used for entering Forum posts. Always allow HTML: Always select No as you want to be able to ensure that you do have any tags visible. Always enable Smilies: This option will allow you to also include Smilies into any posting made onto the Forum. Board language: Please do not alter these options. Timezone: Please do not alter these options. Date format: Please do not alter these options. Submit button: When you have completed the form, please hit this button for this information to be stored. Log in Once you have registered, you will need to log in to the Forum so that you can start to post topics. Enter your username and password Tick box for log me on automatically – activate this so save you having to enter your username each time. Log in button Back to top

Working within the Forum Click onto the relevant forum area, for example, Education, Community, etc. If you want to start a new post, click onto New Topic button Back to top

New Topic Type in Subject Message body &8211; select text to add any formatting features (you can use toolbar buttons to activate). Choose the relevant reply options. Poll Question: If you want to obtain a response for a viewers, you can pose a poll question. Enter you relevant options for people to view – to add more options, choose the Add Options button. Indicate how many days you want the poll to run for? Choose the Preview button and then Submit to upload the topic into the forum. Back to top

Post Reply From within a thread, click onto the Post Reply button Complete the Subject line Enter the message (including any formatting that you would like) Click the Preview button if necessary and when you are ready to upload the message, choose the Submit button Back to top

Message Box You can view any private messages that have been sent either from the administrator or from other registered users. Click onto the Messages link to display any content. As within any mail box, you can view and delete any messages. Back to top

Usergroups In time, groups will be created that can be used to target specific forum users. Click onto the list to see what is available. If there is a group that you would like to be a part of, select it and request permission to join. Back to top

Log Out When you have completed a session on the Forum, choose the Log out link so that people cannot activate your account. Back to top
