The Jewish community in Southport dates from the late 19th century. Its home is the beautiful synagogue in Arnside Road, which was consecrated in 1926. Services are held every Shabbat, followed by a kiddush. Commences 9.30am; Sefer reading 10.15; Sermon 11.15; Kiddush 12 noon (Summer Friday night services commence 7.30pm) (Weekday services are held in the Beth Hamidresh if a minyan is available. Contact the synagogue in advance if you are thinking of attending) The synagogue has its own Mikvah on site.
Visitors are always made welcome and information about times and facilities is easily available from the Shool office.
The Arnside Road Social Committee hold a number of events throughout the year, culminating in a capacity attendance at the annual Hanukkah Gala Dinner. Southport is also the home of the Jewish Small Communities Network. We are very pleased to have hosted visits by the Chief Rabbi, the Israeli Ambassador to the UK, and many other prominent dignitaries.
More information about the synagogue, local kosher food, and community photographs is available on the website.
